PlantGENE Volunteer Opportunities are open to members and offer a chance to collaborate on various projects and events.
Different projects require a variety of skills, experience, technical knowledge, and time commitment.

PlantGENE Teams
Teams are collaborative groups working on short or long-term projects.
Each project can be led by a PlantGENE member volunteer, Project Coordinator Aimee Malzahn, or a Steering Committee Member. The Team will work together to achieve the project goals..
The PlantGENE Blog will cover a variety of topics including methods, recent advances in plant sciences, tips and tricks, and resources. Articles can be original writings or summaries. Topics will be generated by team members and community input.
The Blog Team has started a podcast! We need writers, editors, and interviewers.
The Outreach Team works together to identify outside organizations for potential collaboration, inform the PlantGENE community of ongoing activity, and facilitate collaborations.

A network for postdocs/graduate students/technicians is being developed. Below are some ideas for network activities, but we are open to others.
Organize and lead research workshops

Career advice from established researchers
The PlantGENE community has expressed interest in setting up an online forum to facilitate discussions about transformation.
Volunteers are needed to moderate the forums.
PlantGENE has active social media profiles on X, Instagram, and LinkedIN.
Volunteers are needed to create campaigns, individual posts, and graphics for events.
Workshop Hosting
PlantGENE leadership is interested in expanding available training opportunities.

Project Proposal
Members have the opportunity to lead a PlantGENE initiative. The project will be supported by the Project Coordinator and additional volunteers if necessary.
This is a chance for members to lead, be creative, and contribute to PlantGENE resources!
